Buffalo Creek Game Ranch is driven by a dynamic father & son partnership. Wicus & Hannes Pretorius have developed their extensive game breeding operation with an intensive focus on breeding the industries top disease free East African buffalo.
Buffalo Creek today spans over 9300ha, with 3 joint farms, Tambotiespruit, Yzerfontein and Paardekraal near Rooiberg and Buffelsvley just north of Thabazimbi. A motivated team of workers who live out their knowledge and love of nature and wildlife keeps this well-oiled machine running smoothly every day. The Rooiberg team is headed by Jean Rossouw who has been stationed at Tambotiespruit with his family for the past 5 years, and together with his team are responsible for the “Infinity” Heartwater Springbok herd, “Shangaza” Golden Gnu herd, Ankole Cattle herd as well as both the “Revuma” & “Nguvu” buffalo herds. Reinhardt Holtzhausen manages the Buffelsvley operation, who together with his team is responsible for amongst others, the “Inala”&“Pymat” buffalo herds and the “Hennessy” Roan herd. Reinhardt resides on Buffelsvley with his family since they moved there in 2018.

Buffalo Creek is the result of a lifelong dream of Wicus & Petra Pretorius that became a reality in 1999. Wicus, a mechanical Engineer and successful businessman by trade always wanted his own piece of the bushveld where he could live out his passion for nature while contributing to nature conservation ,the local community and the preservation of vanishing genetics, while still having fun. Today he is a director of WRSA and brings great credibility to the industry with his expertise and experience. Petra is also actively involved as she has successfully registered her own Ankole cattle stud, and today boasts a herd of top Ankole which is very close to her heart.
Hannes moved to Rooiberg in 2003 after graduating from the University of Pretoria. Together with his wife, Angelique and their 2 children they lived on Tambotiespruit until 2015 when they moved closer to Thabazimbi. A keen hunter, outdoorsman and nature lover, Hannes lives his passion every day. He oversees the operations of both the Rooiberg and Thabazimbi farms on a daily basis. He is an active member in his local community and serves on the WRSA, Thabazimbi Chamber committee, amongst others.
